Kiletat holds itself accountable for the safety and dignity of everyone who comes into contact with the cooperative — members, children, communities, staff and partners.

Safeguarding Commitment
Kiletat is committed to preventing harm arising from its work, and to responding promptly, confidentially and appropriately when concerns are raised.
Child Protection
All activities involving children are governed by child protection expectations covering consent, supervision, imagery, data and reporting duties.
Protection From Sexual Exploitation and Abuse
Sexual exploitation and abuse by anyone associated with the cooperative is prohibited without exception, and is grounds for termination and referral to authorities.
Gender-Based Violence Referral
Disclosures are handled on survivor-centred principles and referred to qualified health, psychosocial, legal and protection services.
Safe Recruitment
Recruitment for roles involving contact with children or vulnerable adults includes vetting, references and conduct commitments.
Code of Conduct
Board members, staff, volunteers, contractors and partner personnel are bound by an institutional code of conduct.
Confidential Reporting
Concerns can be raised confidentially. Reports are handled by designated persons on a strict need-to-know basis.
Whistleblowing
Individuals raising concerns in good faith are protected from retaliation, whether the concern is substantiated or not.
Complaints Mechanism
Members, community members and partners may raise complaints about conduct, services or decisions, and receive a documented response.
Data Protection
Personal data connected to safeguarding matters is stored securely, restricted, and processed in line with the Kenya Data Protection Act.
Referral Directory
A directory of statutory, health, legal and protection services is maintained internally for use by designated focal persons.
Staff Responsibilities
Every representative of the cooperative has a duty to report concerns immediately and to never investigate independently.
Partner Responsibilities
Partners and contractors are required to maintain equivalent safeguarding standards and to notify Kiletat of relevant incidents.
Reporting
How to raise a concern.
Concerns may be raised directly with the cooperative's designated contact. Reports are treated confidentially and shared only with those who need to act on them.
In an emergency, or where there is immediate risk to life or safety, contact local emergency services and statutory authorities first.
Please do not include personal data about third parties beyond what is necessary to describe the concern. Personal data is never published on this website.
