Kiletat Women Group Consumer Cooperative Society Limited organises women's economic activity in West Pokot County into a single accountable cooperative platform.
Who we are
Who We Are
Kiletat is a women-led consumer cooperative society registered and operating in West Pokot County, Kenya. Its membership is drawn from thirty affiliated women groups spread across the county's sub-counties and market centres.
The cooperative exists to give women collective structure: a shared institution through which they can save, borrow responsibly, produce at scale, negotiate as a block, hold assets and speak with one voice to government, buyers and development partners.
Our Story
For more than two decades, women across West Pokot have organised themselves into groups around savings, farming, livestock, beadwork and trade. Kiletat brought those groups together into one cooperative structure, so that shared strengths could be consolidated rather than duplicated.
That continuity — sustained membership, sustained leadership and sustained local presence — is the cooperative's most important institutional asset.

How we work
Our Cooperative Model
Kiletat is not a delivery agency operating on communities. It is a member institution owned by the women it serves, structured in four reinforcing layers.

Group membership
Thirty affiliated women groups hold membership, elect representation and remain the primary unit of production and savings.

Cooperative services
Savings, credit, training, business development, aggregation and market linkage are delivered centrally to all members.

Shared assets
Property, equipment and infrastructure are held collectively, so that individual enterprises can access capacity they could not fund alone.

Accountable governance
Elected leadership, financial controls, safeguarding and member reporting hold the institution to its mandate.

Our Leadership
The cooperative is directed by an elected board drawn from its membership and supported by executive and programme management. Named office holders and biographies are published on the governance page once confirmed by the cooperative.
Governance structureInstitutional Development
Kiletat is strengthening systems in financial management, monitoring and evaluation, procurement, data protection and donor reporting so that it can absorb and account for institutional financing at scale.
Safeguarding
Safeguarding is treated as an institutional obligation, not a programme add-on. The cooperative maintains commitments on child protection, protection from sexual exploitation and abuse, confidential reporting and survivor-centred referral.

Our Geography
Kiletat's membership is county-wide across West Pokot, spanning highland farming areas, pastoral lowlands and the market centres that connect them. West Pokot County, Kenya.
Our Members
More than 1,000 women hold membership through thirty affiliated groups. Members are farmers, livestock keepers, beekeepers, artisans, tailors, traders and small business owners.
